Biography
Born on 12 January 1953 in Tampa, Florida, USA, Lindsey relocated with her family to Savannah, Georgia, shortly after her arrival. Her father managed a local country music radio station while performing on air with his ensemble, the Dixie Showboys. Lindsey began appearing with the group at the age of five. Conway Twitty, impressed by her abilities, helped her secure a contract with Chart Records in 1967. Early releases featured the singles ‘Beggars Can’t Be Choosers’ and ‘Wave Bye Bye To The Man’, plus two duets with Kenny Vernon—‘Eye To Eye’ and ‘Pickin’ Wild Mountain Berries’, her strongest seller. She scored a solo entry on the US country charts in 1970 with ‘Partly Bill’. Though she kept recording and notched several smaller successes, she never established herself as an adult country artist.
