Laxmikant-Pyarelal

The Indian film music composing pair known as Laxmikant Pyarelal consists of mandolinist Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar, who lived from 1937 until his passing on May 25, 1998, and violinist Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, born in 1940. Their initial encounter took place at Lata Mangeshkar's music academy. They began their careers performing as studio musicians prior to receiving their debut assignment composing for the 1963 movie Parasmani, which led to notable acclaim in the subsequent year thanks to Dosti. Hundreds of Bollywood productions featured their compositions from that point onward and continuing into the 1990s. Although they composed both individually and collaboratively, all their efforts received joint attribution under the name Laxmikant Pyarelal. With Kudalkar's passing bringing an end to the partnership, Sharma transitioned into a period of partial retirement.
