L. Dizzur, who performs primarily under the name L.D., operates as an independent artist from the South while handling his own production duties as a rapper, vocalist, and engineer. Lil Wayne and the Notorious B.I.G. rank among the key figures who shaped his approach. Though he first came up in Tampa, Florida, he later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, specifically to expand his professional reach, and went on to launch his own imprint, #NoLogo. Following several mixtapes he dropped throughout the early 2010s, he released a small cluster of singles during 2016 before unveiling the eight-track project The Crossover EP in 2017. That varied collection earned its title from the way it blended mainstream commercial elements with occasional pop sensibilities inside current rap formats. By late in the year the EP had climbed inside the Top Ten of Billboard’s national Heatseeker Albums chart, which tracks developing acts.
