Biography
An anonymous French musician records as Le Seul Elément, shaping bleak sonic environments distinguished by brooding piano motifs and infusions of noise, darkwave, doom metal, and post-rock. The project’s daring, erratic albums, notably 2017’s Demon, transform inner darkness and sensations of estrangement into gripping statements.
Shaped by punk rock together with the grimmer currents of classical and electronic traditions, Le Seul Elément appeared first in 2012 with Gin Pleos, a record that follows a man facing his final days and longing for another chance at life. The Belgian label ConSouling Sounds issued the next album, Meradiam, in 2015. Following widespread approval in the underground press, the artist signed with Cleopatra Records for Demon, the project’s most atmospheric work to date. That album featured contributions from Lynette Cerezo of the industrial band Bestial Mouths and from drone guitarist thisquietarmy.
