In 1977 Lee Dallon teamed up with bassist and vocalist Robbie Watson, guitarists and vocalists Ian Taylor and Martin Finley, drummer Paul Spencer, vocalist Chris Gent, and second keyboardist Tommy Eyre to launch the hard-hitting pink band the Speedometers. Despite issuing three notable EPs—Disgrace in 1977, Liverpool Ladies in 1978, and Tonight Tonight in 1979—plus the full-length album Day In The Lights later that same year, the group’s heavy-bashing sound never caught on commercially, leading to the band’s dissolution.

As one of the Speedometers’ two keyboardists, Dallon proved unable to launch a viable solo path and slipped into obscurity once the ensemble split.
