Biography
Lee Feldman, a pianist and singer/songwriter based in Brooklyn, shares artistic affinities with Ben Folds as a more seasoned and insightful counterpart, with both musicians embodying romanticism laced with self-loathing, apprehension, and reflections on matters of the heart. This emotional turmoil nevertheless fuels brisk, incisive pop songs. Having received training in jazz and classical traditions, Feldman exhibits proficiency across an array of instruments including bass, drums, clarinet, strings, and accordion, allowing him to navigate pop melodies and traditional compositions with ease. His first album, Living It All Wrong, came out independently during 1996 before PURE acquired it the following year. Although critics offered enthusiastic acclaim, complications arising from a merger at Universal cast a pall over the achievement. Consequently, Feldman established Bonafide Records as his personal imprint in 1998. Two years afterward, he issued his sophomore release, The Man in a Jupiter Hat.
