Biography

The punk-pop quartet Lefty, hailing from Southern California, features guitarists Dennis Hill and Larry Giovani alongside bassist Scott Somers and drummer Kenny Livingston. Having known each other since grade school, Hill and Somers started making music together toward the end of 1997. Upon listening to one of their initial practice sessions, Giovani came on board, leading the group to begin performing live in the early months of 1998. In the following year, they put out their independently released first album titled Sound Secretion Dub while bringing in Livingston to take over on drums. Word spreading about both the record and their high-energy performances drew Interscope Records' interest by the spring of 1999, resulting in the band signing with the label that autumn and putting out their follow-up album 4-3-2-1 during the middle of 2000.
