Biography
Leisure McCorkle, a singer and songwriter steeped in the American underground, channels his command of the classic alternative era into vigorous hard rock. During the mid-1990s he captured the lo-fi album Nappy Superstar on an 8-track recorder in 1997. Though assembled on a shoestring budget, the project drew strong notices from critics and helped build a lasting audience for his concerts. He followed it with American Ghetto Pop Machine, sharpening both songwriting and production values until an MTV licensing agreement placed several tracks in the network’s reality series. By 2002, Jet Set Baby emerged as the most forceful album in his catalog, extending his reach across poppy alternative rock with a complete backing band.
