Biography
Leon Bryant launched his musical path at a remarkably young age yet found his strongest commercial traction during those initial years rather than afterward. Classical studies began for him at five, and by twelve he was already serving as a choral music director. Joe Bataan scored a hit in 1980 with the Bryant composition "You Are My Latin Lover." His own 1981 self-titled debut merged gospel and soul textures, a combination repeated on the 1984 follow-up Finders Keepers. Both projects appeared on De-Lite, the same label that first signed Kool And The Gang. In 1984 Bryant additionally supplied the songs and production for The Intruders' LP Who Do You Love. Despite his abilities as a vocalist and keyboardist, he never achieved a major commercial breakthrough.
