Biography
Emerging from London, the singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Leon Jean-Marie generated considerable attention in 2008 upon his arrival on Island Records with a pop approach steeped in R&B and funk that repeatedly invited parallels to Prince. Preceding the arrival of his debut album Bent Out of Shape (2008), which incorporated production from Mark Ronson and Bloodshy, came the singles “Bed of Nails” and “Bring It On.” Promotion for the record included appearances on the Wonky Pop tour alongside Alphabeat and Frankmusik, a set at Glastonbury Festival, and opening slots with Estelle.
