Biography
Beginning in 1936, fiddle player Selph formed the Blue Ridge Playboys, whose polished Western swing sound helped launch the careers of Moon Mullican, Floyd Tillman, and Ted Daffan. Following the conclusion of World War II, Selph took the helm of a big band and remained musically engaged throughout the Houston region until the end of his life. Widely anthologized, the Blue Ridge Playboys' rendition of his composition "Give Me My Dime Back" has found its way into the sets of contemporary ensembles including the Hot Club of Cowtown.
