Biography
Brazilian pop/rock performer Leonel Vange first entered the local music circuit in the early ’80s as a member of the reggae outfit Os Camaroes. He subsequently became part of the rock group Vessel, which issued its self-titled album through CBS in 1987. Leonel Vangel cut his debut solo record for Sony Music in 1991; the track “Noite Preta” from that album was placed in the television series Vamp, and the following year he received the Sharp Award for pop/rock Revelation. In 1993 the singer contributed “Maluco Beleza” to the Raul Seixas tribute album O Inicio, O Fim e O Meio. Between 1997 and 2000 Leonel Vange served as a columnist for the national gay publication Sui Generis.
