Biography
In an effort to restore the straightforward essence of vocals paired with acoustic guitar in contemporary times, the duo Les Shelleys comprises singer/songwriter Tom Brosseau alongside singer/songwriter Angela Correa. During his independent work, Brosseau issued collections of minimalist folk material through the British imprint FatCat, whereas Correa contributed to the indie pop outfit Correatown. The two first connected in 2002 after filmmaker/songwriter Gregory Page arranged an introduction, and they soon began interpreting numbers originally associated with Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Sister Tharpe, and additional folk pioneers. Following an extended period of joint activity that encompassed a Tom Brosseau/Correatown/Les Shelleys excursion across the U.K., the pair issued its self-titled debut album in 2010.
