Biography
Following the 1969 split between Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Flatt gathered many of the original Foggy Mountain Boys, rechristened the ensemble Nashville Grass, and maintained an active touring schedule that thrived until his death in 1979. Whereas Scruggs ventured with his sons into sounds only loosely tied to country, Flatt and the Grass adhered strictly to traditional bluegrass repertoire. The band continued to excel without Scruggs, finally bringing overdue attention to Flatt’s vocals, musical leadership, and discerning taste. ~ David Vinopal
