Biography
Levek serves as the chosen alias for David Levesque, a Florida-based musician shaping his solo endeavor. By day Levesque steered an elementary-school bus route, yet each evening he withdrew into solitary home recording sessions. He launched the project in Orlando during 2009, initially sharing a nine-song demo through online channels. Several influential blogs soon championed the tracks for their intimate, inward beauty, noting echoes of the more ethereal passages found in the work of Grizzly Bear, Devendra Banhart, and Sufjan Stevens. Levesque further credited Disney films as a central source for the playfully wistful tone of his music. A self-titled 7" appeared in November 2010, by which time he had moved to Gainesville, Florida, and begun inviting local friends and players to flesh out occasional live performances. Lefse Records issued the project’s debut full-length album, Look a Little Closer, toward the close of 2012.
