A Chicago-based electronic trio known for high-energy sets, Levity blends dubstep, trap, and future bass into crowd-igniting performances. Their rise started with the 2023 track “Flip It,” a collaboration alongside Dem Jointz, and accelerated after a last-minute opportunity placed them on the 2024 Electric Forest lineup, where they emerged as a standout act. Building on that exposure, the group dropped their Escapism, Vol. 1 EP in September of the same year.

The project traces its origins to 2019, when PJ Carberry, John Hauldren, and Josh Tarum—three University of Iowa classmates united by a passion for electronic music—decided to form a band. After mastering DJ software on their own, they secured early local bookings and eventually moved to Hauldren’s native Chicago. Drawing from Skrillex, Flume, and Porter Robinson, they honed their live reputation and joined the Deadbeats roster in 2023. While “The Deep” and “Moment” gained notice, the trap-leaning “Flip It” featuring veteran producer Dem Jointz proved to be their breakthrough.

During June 2024, Hauldren found himself at West Michigan’s Electric Forest simply as an attendee. A prior connection with one of the event’s promoters led to an unexpected offer: an open prime-time evening slot created by a sudden cancellation. With almost no warning, Carberry and Tarum rushed northward from Chicago, enabling the trio to deliver an impromptu performance that ranked among the festival’s most memorable moments. The set also exposed “Flip It” to a wider crowd, prompting its inclusion on the subsequent Escapism, Vol. 1 EP released later that year.
