Biography
Blending strains of Cuban, American, and French jazz, the Lewis Trio consists of a roster of seasoned Cuban players: bandleader/violinist Ricardo Gonzalez Lewis, pianist Ivan Gonzalez Lewis, and bassist Alain Perez. Although the ensemble sustains a pronounced Cuban character across its work, additional ingredients such as dissonance and opera-style singing help shape a distinctly individual voice. The group launched its debut album, Battango, in 2001.
