Biography
Lez Zeppelin, an all-female cover band devoted to Led Zeppelin, came together in New York City toward the end of the 2000s and adopted its playfully suggestive name at the outset. Although that moniker could suggest a lighthearted stance toward the source material, the quartet—Sarah McLellan on lead vocals, Helen Destroy on drums, Lisa Brigantino handling bass, mandolin, and keys, and Steph Paynes on guitar—approaches the material with complete commitment. That level of dedication led the group to recruit engineer Eddie Kramer, known for his work with Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Kiss, along with Led Zeppelin remasterer George Marino, to shape their self-titled debut album released in 2007.
