Biography
Liars Academy formed in Baltimore during 2000, with three-quarters of its roster pulled from the earlier group Cross My Heart. The lineup of vocalist/guitarist Ryan Shelkett, guitarist/vocalist Fred Fritz, bassist Chris Camden, and drummer Evan Tanner quickly secured a contract with Equal Vision Records, which put out the full-length No News Is Good News in 2002 and the Trading My Life EP the following year. Live shows with Jets to Brazil, Christiansen, and Bear vs. Shark came next. J. Robbins of Brazil handled production duties on Demons, Liars Academy’s 2004 Equal Vision release, which stood as the clearest embodiment so far of the group’s infectious mix of emo and indie rock.
