Biography
Light Fantastic emerged as an indie pop outfit whose melodic songcraft receives a coating of jangly, reverb-drenched textures. Terry Sowers assembled the project in San Francisco at a time when he was developing material in isolation while also handling guitar duties for Farmer Dave Scher’s ensemble. He passed these compositions to longtime collaborator Jeremy Bringetto (Vue, Tamaryn), and producer Rex Shelverton—also a member of Bringetto’s circle—helped steer the material toward a shoegaze-tinged, surf-informed aesthetic shaped in part by the surrounding Bay Area setting. Fronted by Sowers on vocals and guitar, with Bringetto handling bass, Kevin Adamson on guitar, Rachel Hoiem on keyboards, and Scott Goldberg on drums, the group issued its self-titled EP through Spiritual Pajamas in 2013. After Jae Rodriguez stepped in for Adamson on guitar, the band delivered its first full-length album, Out of View, in 2016.
