Approaching indie rock via ambient textures, Light Pollution forged an ethereal, otherworldly sound positioned between Arcade Fire and Grizzly Bear, steadily earning recognition as one of Chicago’s foremost and most intriguing acts. Fronted by singer/songwriter Jim Cicero, the group originated in DeKalb, a suburb of the Windy City. Occupying a Victorian house, the members exploited its singular acoustics to shape fragile, asymmetrically contoured compositions marked by ringing, uneven edges. In 2008 the band issued its self-produced, self-titled debut EP, which quickly attracted favor among selective music blogs. The following year they signed with Carpark Records.
