Lil 2z

Dallas rapper Lil 2z made his entrance via the 2018 studio debut Finally, distinguished by an unceasing delivery and a knack for narrative. Multiple tracks from his catalog gained widespread traction online, which in turn sparked guest spots alongside fellow MCs and expanded listenership ahead of the 2019 project 6 AM.

Born Angelo Zimmerie in Dallas, Texas, he initiated his recording career by posting original material to the internet beginning in 2016, among them independent cuts such as “Watch Who You Trust.” Still within that same year he dropped his opening mixtape Golden Child, then delivered the follow-up Cujo in 2017. The latter contained his breakout cut “Head Above Water,” which amassed millions of streams while its matching video drew comparable attention. Recognition mounted steadily afterward. Finally, his inaugural studio album, surfaced in 2018 and featured several cuts that ignited across streaming services. By year’s end another mixtape, Livin’ 2 Fast, appeared and likewise produced tracks that reached the million-stream mark. Two further mixtapes arrived in 2019—the comparatively understated The Jungle alongside the more polished 6 AM. Late that year Lil 2z added a guest verse to LilCJ Kasino’s single “Nick to a Brick.”
