Biography
Born Rodriguez Jackson in San Francisco, rapper Lil' Pete later moved to Atlanta. There he initially recorded as Peter the Disciple, trimming the name to Lil Pete once he began drawing notice as an MC. His earliest widespread attention arrived via collaborations with Pastor Troy, who placed him on several tracks—one of them a verse shared with Juvenile on the 2004 hit single "Nice Change." Pete also appeared on a pair of albums issued under the D.S.G.B. banner, otherwise known as Down South Georgia Boyz, alongside Pastor Troy, Pinhead, and Blackout. Those showcases of his rhyme skills opened doors to further high-profile work, including sessions with Southern rap icons such as David Banner and Bone Crusher. Beyond the collaborative output, Pete issued solo material that ranged from mixtapes like O.G. Status to more developed albums such as 2016's Surviving the Drought.
