Biography
Hailing from Australia, Lillye channels a potent blend of hard rock and heavy metal through the commanding presence of lead vocalist Virginia Lillye. The quartet first assembled in Sydney in 2012, completed by guitarist Matt Ellis, bassist Christian Lauria, and drummer Bennet Livingstone. Virginia Lillye had already earned recognition as a sought-after musical theater performer, appearing in European stagings of Hair, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, and additional productions while simultaneously refining her rock technique across several earlier bands.
Once united, the musicians concentrated on original songwriting, issuing their self-titled debut EP in 2014. Regular live work followed over the subsequent two years, highlighted by prominent festival engagements throughout Australia and Europe. The band also shared stages with former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke on multiple dates and collected industry recognition that included a Global Music Award plus dual nominations for an Australian Independent Music Award. Eclipse Records welcomed them aboard in 2018, at which point Lillye issued their first full-length album, Evolve.
