International avant jazz quartet Lily's Déjà Vu merges unyielding improvisation with structural ideas rooted in jazz, rock, and contemporary composition, yielding a sound palette that can veer abruptly between explosive, introspective, and unexpectedly melodic. Three of its members reside in Amsterdam: bassist Jasper Stadhouders, born in Tilberg, contributes prominently to the city's improvised music community on both bass and guitar through ensembles such as Spinifex and the free jazz trio Cactus Truck; guitarist Guillermo Celano, originally from Buenos Aires, earned a master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam after arriving in the Dutch capital in 1999 and belongs to the Celano/Baggiani Group along with Thelonious 4; drummer Marcos Baggiani, likewise Buenos Aires-born, relocated to Amsterdam in 2001 to complete his master's in jazz at the Conservatorium and performs with the same Celano/Baggiani Group plus the Ambush Party.

Tenor saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock completes the lineup; born in Stadtlohn, Germany, she maintains the quartet's most visible presence in global creative jazz and improvisation networks, having participated in London's avant and free jazz milieu from the 1990s through the early 2000s before relocating to Brooklyn in 2008, where she integrated into that borough's experimental music circles via multiple collaborations and by directing her own groups Sleepthief and Anti-House. Lily's Déjà Vu delivered live performances at Amsterdam's Trytone Festival and Jazz & World Meeting in 2012 and captured its first album at the Tracking Room studio on April 20 of the same year. Following an October CD launch tour across venues in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway, the group issued its debut, Music from Another Ass, on the Trytone imprint.
