Lime Spiders

Lime Spiders emerged from Australia as a post-punk outfit that revived the grittier facets of 1960s garage and psychedelic rock through deliberate excess. Mick Blood, handling vocals, assembled the lineup in the early 1980s alongside guitarist Gerald Corben, bassist Tony Bambach, and drummer Ricky Lawson. In 1983 the group laid down two singles that surfaced two years afterward on the Slave Girl EP, after which they inked a deal with Virgin Records. Their opening long-player, The Cave Comes Alive!, arrived to strong praise, yet the next year’s Volatile fell short by drifting toward leaden hard rock. The outfit dissolved following the release of 1990’s Beethoven’s Fist.
