Biography
Contemporary folkie Linda Allen entered the world in Washington, the very state whose landscapes and history would go on to shape her artistic voice. Her first recording, Mama Wanted to Be a Rainbow Dancer, appeared in 1982, with October Roses arriving two years afterward. Nothing further emerged until 1991, when she brought out both Women’s Work and Washington Notebook, the second of which gathered historically themed songs written to mark the state’s centennial. Another six years elapsed before Lay It Down: Images of the Sacred reached listeners, and The Long Road Home came next in 1999.
