Biography
Originating from Mississippi, Linsey Alexander spent his formative years in Memphis, where a family acquaintance supplied his first guitar. He absorbed the essentials of blues guitar and singing by studying recordings from Little Milton and B.B. King, each of whom had likewise moved from the Delta to Tennessee. With earnings he had set aside, Alexander relocated to Chicago in the late 1950s and remained there permanently. Performances in the city’s celebrated South Side juke joints repeatedly led to offers to tour alongside established blues figures such as Buddy Guy and Magic Slim, though he declined in order to preserve his individual approach. An LP appeared under his name in 1997.
