Biography
Emerging from Montgomery County, Maryland, the American rock outfit Lionize fuses rock, punk, reggae, heavy metal, dub, and funk into a style shaped by the eclectic Washington, D.C. underground that produced genre-crossing acts such as Bad Brains, Clutch, and Fugazi. The group came together in 2003 and first tested new sonic limits two years later by issuing its opening full-length, Danger My Dear. Recorded at Jamaica’s Harry J Studios—the same facility where Bob Marley tracked several major successes—Space Pope and the Glass Machine reached listeners in 2008, while Jetpack Soundtrack arrived in 2014 and marked the quartet’s most aggressive, guitar-driven collection yet. The band later signed with The End Records to release its fourth studio album, Nuclear Soul, in 2017.
