An experimental five-piece outfit based in Los Angeles came together during 1990 when bass player Johnny Lonely joined forces with guitarist Scott Tracey. They brought in Todd Rigione on guitar, Buck Murphy handling vocals, and drummer John Molo, after which the group performed nonstop throughout the local bar and club scene in LA. Their blend of psychedelic, blues, jazz, and metal elements reached bizarre heights, leading to an independent live album as their first release. Regarded by certain observers as Jane’s Addiction’s successors, the band secured a deal with Geffen Records in 1991, resulting in the album Pour In The Sky. Drawing from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Queen, the record avoided plagiarism claims through its wildly erratic and unforeseen approach.
