Biography
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, roots-rocker Lisa Hayes relocated briefly to Los Angeles before returning home in 1994 to assemble her band the Violets. Their debut album, Wild Place, surfaced on the hometown Schizophonic label in 1995 and moved more than five thousand copies solely through live performances; a subsequent run of shows in New York City led to a contract with Straight Line, an Atlantic subsidiary. Lisa Hayes and the Violets then issued their major-label debut, Sun, in 1999.
