Biography
Born in Manhattan, Lisa Meri possesses skills as a vocalist, guitarist, and composer. Her formal introduction to music arrived at age nine through violin instruction. Three years later she shifted focus to the guitar. At fifteen she secured her initial professional appearance by performing several selections at the Manhattan venue Area Code 212. Although compensation remained modest, the experience revealed a lifelong vocation she knew would stay engaging, an inclination reinforced by her father’s career as a working drummer with a deep affinity for jazz. Upon enrolling at the Berklee College of Music, Meri expanded her curriculum beyond guitar to encompass composition, arranging, and orchestration, establishing a solid technical foundation. She issued her first recording, the five-track EP I’m Not Gonna Say I Told You So, in 1994. Four years afterward came the full-length album Time Will Tell, both projects featuring such songs as “The Good Life,” “Take Me Where You’re Going,” “I’ll Miss You All These Years,” “You Got the Better of Me,” and “The Red Thread.” Meri has appeared across concert halls, festivals, and clubs in the United States and Europe. Her recorded work blends jazz, rock, and pop elements.
