Gospel singer and worship leader Lisa Page Brooks first rose to prominence through her membership in the ensemble Witness. Born in Detroit as the daughter of Charles Warren Harris from the Motown group the Monitors, she grew up immersed in music alongside her sister Laeh Page; the siblings performed locally as the gospel duo the Voices of Eden.

An invitation to rehearse with the newly assembled vocal group Witness in 1986 prompted her to join the quartet, which producer and songwriter Michael Brooks had created as a counterpart to his male ensemble Commissioned. Her distinctive throaty yet resonant vocals quickly propelled the contemporary gospel act forward on tracks including “Safety,” “Clap Your Hands,” “Resting in Him,” and “Standard,” while the group collected honors such as a 1991 Grammy nomination for Best Group/Duo, a 1991 GMWA Excellence Award for Best Group, and a 1993 Stellar Award for Best Performance Group/Duo.

After Lisa and Michael married, they introduced her solo career in 1997 via the well-received debut More Than You’ll Ever Know, again helmed by her husband; the project earned nods for Best New Artist at both the 1997 Dove Awards and the 1997 Stellar Awards. Four years afterward she issued the self-titled Lisa Page Brooks, once more produced by Michael. Her third studio effort, Strong, arrived in 2009 and yielded the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart-topper “I Just Want to Say Thank You,” followed in 2011 by the retrospective Hidden Treasures: The Best of Lisa Page Brooks.

Brooks returned in 2013 with Ready, featuring the single “God Thing” alongside production from her son Justin Brooks and vocal arrangements by her daughter, vocalist Tara Lockhart. In addition to recording and performing, she and Michael serve as pastors at Restoration Fellowship Church International in Detroit.
