Biography
Little Faith unites gospel’s sacred intensity with the propulsion of rhythm and blues, soul, and country traditions. Keyboardist Jack Maeby, a seasoned session player whose résumé lists work alongside Etta James, Aaron Neville, Solomon Burke, and Carly Simon, assembled the ensemble in 2010. Its first roster placed Maeby at the organ, Nelson Blanton on guitar, and Paul Vitolins behind the drums. After establishing themselves locally in Los Angeles, the band issued its debut album, Spirituals, the same year; the recording added vocalist Billie Harris plus saxophonist James King and violinist Leah Zeger.
Shelter, the follow-up, appeared in 2012 with an enlarged membership: Jesper Kristensen replaced Vitolins on drums, Craig Ferguson entered on pedal steel, Mark “Torch” Tortorici handled harmonica, and the vocal corps grew to include Nadia Christine Duggin, John Michael Knowles, and Ray Wolffe, who joined returning guests Francesca Falcone, Clarence Witherspoon, and Desrae Wolffe. The set alternated gospel standards with classic rock numbers, drawing strong critical notices and prompting expanded bookings at both religious gatherings and mainstream stages. In 2015 Little Faith joined Skyrocket Records for its third release, Eternity; by then Nelson Blanton had departed, leaving Ray Wolffe to cover both guitar and vocal duties.
