Born on 19 August during the 1930s in Mississippi, USA, Christian passed away around 1993. As a child he performed in a local church choir, and after relocating to Chicago in 1951 he kept performing gospel material, both working and cutting sides with the Highway QCs between 1957 and 1961. Throughout the following decade he supplied bass for Otis Rush, Elmore James and additional artists, later serving Jimmy Dawkins in the dual role of bassist and vocalist. In the 1970s he assembled his own group and thereafter concentrated solely on singing, issuing several singles during the 1980s. Celebrated for his deeply soulful delivery, Christian cut his first album toward the close of that decade for the Chicago-based Big Boy imprint.
