Biography
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, singer Liz Hogue laid down the mellow steppers favorite "Dream Lover," a song unrelated to the Mariah Carey chart-topper that shares its title. Former Isley Brothers keyboardist Chris Jasper wrote and produced the track for his Gold City label, which Columbia handled for distribution. The resulting luminous mid-tempo ballad showcases Hogue’s husky, intimate vocals, which occasionally echo Anita Baker. This sensual number appeared on her 1990 LP Vicious & Fresh. Hogue also supplied background vocals for Rhythm Logic’s self-titled CD on the Zebra/WEA imprint.
