Biography
Born in 1973 in Karlsruhe, Germany, to Argentinean parents, the mezzo-soprano Lloica Czackis developed an angelic vocal quality that defined her artistry. Her early years unfolded in Venezuela, where immersion in Latin American folk traditions, above all tango, shaped the trajectory of her professional life. She trained under Ana Sirulnik for voice and pursued studies in choral conduction at Argentine Catholic University in Buenos Aires before completing her formation in London under Vera Rosza and David Pollard at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Equally assured across folk, tango, opera, Renaissance repertory, and avant-garde works, Czackis has toured her program Tangele: The Pulse of Yiddish Tango—featuring arrangements by composer Gustavo Beytelmann—before festival audiences throughout Europe and the United States since 1999. Since 2003 she has also presented Terezin Karussell, a recital devoted to art and cabaret songs by composers interned at Terezin. In 2008 John Zorn’s Tzadik Records issued the first commercial recording of Tangele.
