Biography
In the early 1980s, Bronx-based dub producer Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes oversaw a bustling studio where he recorded numerous reggae singers and issued the results through his own Wackies imprint. The artists who recorded for him during this period included Horace Andy, Wayne Jarrett, Junior Delahaye, Love Joys, Naggo Morris, Meditations, Stranger Cole, Sugar Minott, Clive Field Marshall, and Leroy Sibbles. These musicians came to be recognized collectively as the Wackies. Early in the 2000s, Berlin’s Basic Channel label, renowned for its dub-techno output, brought a substantial catalog of Wackies material back into circulation.
