This American garage rock group pulls its players from established New York City alternative rock outfits, drawing drummer-turned-vocalist-and-guitarist Hollis Queens plus guitarist Jens Jürgensen from Boss Hog and drummer Martin Owens from Speedball Baby. Lo-Hi first appeared in the late 1990s as the duo of Queens and Owens, a configuration captured on their 1998 album Kind Of Like A Feel Good Thing. After the band backed that release on bills with the Make-Up, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Brassy, and Blonde Redhead, the members dispersed, allowing Queens to rejoin Boss Hog for its 2000 album Whiteout. Queens and Owens reactivated Lo-Hi in 2002, bringing Jürgensen and bassist Justin Holub into the lineup and committing their second album, Say It More, to tape.
