Biography
Lo-Pan, a crew of stoned rockers based in Columbus, Ohio, came together when vocalist Jeff Martin, guitarist Brian Fristoe, bassist Skot Thompson, and drummer J. Bartz forged a connection through beer, bong water, and repeated viewings of the cult action film Big Trouble in Little China, the source of their band name. Starting in 2005 they tore through area venues and moved straight into tracking their self-titled debut, which surfaced the following year and cleared the path for a noticeably stronger second album, Sasquanaut, in 2009. That release drew the interest of Detroit-based Small Stone Records, which remixed and reissued the LP in 2011 while the band readied its third album.
