Lockjaw

Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Rock historians chiefly recall Lockjaw as the short-lived outfit that first placed bassist Simon Gallup in the Cure, yet the group itself entered the scene in late 1977 by issuing the single "Radio Call Sign" on the Raw label, an occasion the members later viewed with dismay. Gallup has since admitted that he smashes every copy of the disc he comes across so that it never reaches unsuspecting ears. The original roster consisted of Gallup on bass, his brother Ric Gallup (performing as Bo Zo) handling vocals, Micky Morbid on guitar, and Oddy Ordish on drums. After the single appeared, the lineup shifted when Morbid exited and was succeeded by the twin-guitar front of Stu Pendous and Steve Mushroom. In that configuration the band recorded a follow-up single, "Journalist Jive," again for Raw, before disbanding.
