Hailing from New Jersey, Lonesome Bob first gained notice in the 1980s as drummer for the Ben Vaughn Combo, appearing on three of the group’s albums. He moved to New York City in 1984 and remained there for ten years before heading to Nashville. Two years after his arrival in Music City, Bloodshot Records placed his song “The Plans We Made” on the compilation Nashville: The Other Side of the Alley. Checkered Past Records released his self-produced debut album, Things Fall Apart, in 1997. His work has since drawn notice throughout the music community. He joined Allison Moorer for her U.S. tour dates, shared a duet with her on the MCA Records release The Hardest Part, and appeared alongside her on Austin City Limits. Country Music Television spotlighted the singer/songwriter during the premiere episode of Western Beat With Billy Block, a program that also showcased Charlie Robison and Trisha Yearwood. The Nashville Music Awards later nominated his debut album for Best Americana Album. In 2001 he made his Grand Ole Opry debut when he and Moorer performed “I Ain’t the One,” the Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings original. Leaps Records issued his follow-up, Things Change, in 2002. Several artists have covered his material, among them the Waco Brothers, whose second album took its title from his composition “Do You Think About Me,” as well as Ernest Noyes Brookings and the Mekons. His live résumé includes shows with Johnny Paycheck, los Straitjackets, Amy Rigby, Syd Straw, Jon Langford, Tim Carroll, Sally Timms, and others. He has also performed at Twangfest in St. Louis and served as opening act for Dwight Yoakam in Austin, Texas.
