Lonette McKee

Lonette McKee excels both as a screen performer of rare distinction and as a highly skilled vocalist and pianist. Early in her career she performed alongside the Soul Sisters, a vocal group that appeared on Jonathan Winters' television program. Cinematic work ultimately defined her public profile, particularly her roles in the films Sparkle, Cotton Club, and Which Way Is Up. In 1974 she issued a handful of recordings on the Sussex label, yet the venture produced scant commercial traction.
