Biography
Roots-rock outfit Loose Diamonds originated in Dayton, Ohio under the name the Highwaymen before adopting their current moniker upon relocating to Austin, Texas in the late 1980s. The quartet—“Scrappy” Jud Newcomb on guitar and vocals, Troy Campbell handling vocals, harmonica, and acoustic guitar, Mike Campbell on bass, and Ian Bailey behind the drums—wove together strands drawn from Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen alongside a broad spectrum of blues, R&B, and country artists. Their first full-length release, the 1993 LP Burning Daylight, was succeeded in 1995 by New Location. Two years after that, the seven-track, entirely acoustic mini-album Fresco Fiasco surfaced.
