Biography
Beginning piano studies at the age of four, Loren Schoenberg soon established himself as a jazz historian employed by the New York Jazz Museum. He first took up tenor saxophone in 1974 and reached professional standing within two years. Engagements with numerous swing masters, among them Benny Goodman, led him to form his own regular big band in 1980. Since that time the steadily more individual soloist, who also produces extensive liner notes, has issued multiple outstanding swing-oriented albums on Aviva and Music Masters, employing both his large ensemble and a smaller combo.
