Biography
Calvi earned his chief renown as a compiler who assembled four volumes of sacred music drawn from northern Italy. This anthology consisted chiefly of previously unprinted works contributed by Monteverdi, Grandi, Donati, Turini, and Calvi himself. Several of these pieces survive in no other source.
