Los Originales De San Juan

A norteño quartet known as Los Originales de San Juan operates out of Southern California. Early in the 1990s the group came together and gradually cultivated an audience across the West Coast, Southwest, and Mexico via consistent performances on the road alongside multiple self-released recordings. Controversy arose for their tracks “El Clavo” and “El Jardinero” when norteño and Tejano stations aired them, given the narratives centered on drug dealers in each. Achieving widespread success in the norteño scene with “El Jardinero,” the quartet secured a deal from EMI Latin. Cantina de Mi Barrio marked their debut release on the imprint toward the end of 1997. The year 1999 saw the arrival of both Cantos de la Revolucion, featuring songs written amid the Mexican revolution, and Mexicano Hasta la Madre. One year after that came Caspa del Diablo.
