Los Pregoneros del Puerto sustain the jaracho tradition originating from Mexico's Gulf Coast area. Formed in the early 1960s, the Veracruz-based trio dissolved soon afterward yet reconvened in 1982 to make up for the intervening years. They released the traditional album Music of Veracruz in 1985, which was succeeded five years later by Sones Jarachos. The lineup includes Gonzalo Mata on harp, Jose Gutierrez on the five-stringed jarana, and Valente Reyes on guitar.
