International Artists, best known for its association with the 13th Floor Elevators, documented several little-known psychedelic bands from Texas, the Lost And Found among them. Their recordings displayed a marked resemblance to the Elevators’ approach, much as those of labelmates the Golden Dawn did, though without matching originality. The Lost And Found and Golden Dawn albums in particular could easily give the impression that the Elevators functioned as an International Artists house band appearing under various names, even though that was never the case. Drug experiences shaped the Lost And Found’s psychedelic aesthetic in the same manner they informed the Elevators’ work. Securing the label’s legal assistance to resolve LSD-related charges against three members constituted one key incentive for signing, at a time when such offenses carried severe consequences in the mid-’60s. The band dissolved after issuing only a single album, Forever Lasting Plastic Words. Like every other International Artists release, that LP later attained considerable worth among collectors.
