Biography
The indie pop experiments of lots of hands merge electronic instrumentals with bittersweet melodies that recall slowcore textures. Billy Woodhouse began the project as a solo outlet around 2017, resulting in the 2020 debut album mistake. A year later came the seven-track, largely instrumental release there's someone in this room just like you. As echoes of the dreamier approach associated with Alex G and Hovvdy surfaced, the project grew more song-focused on later efforts such as 2023's fantasy and the 2025 duo debut into a pretty room, issued on Fire Talk Records with Elliot Dryden.
Woodhouse and Dryden first encountered each other at age 16 while attending a music program in Newcastle. Woodhouse later studied at university in Leeds before issuing intimate bedroom recordings, among them the distorted-vocal track "it doesn't feel nice" and the EP acousticdemos/covers, under the lots of hands name in the late 2010s. The project remained largely anonymous when mistake appeared as its first full-length in mid-2020, mixing glitchy processed songs with instrumentals. The subsequent there's someone in this room just like you stayed mostly wordless. Fantasy, released in mid-2023, prioritized songs and received limited pressings via Sore Horse in Australia and Devil Town Tapes across the U.K. and Europe.
After relocating to Newcastle, Woodhouse and Dryden shaped the next album together in a home studio. Blending reworked demos, fresh session highlights, and bridging instrumentals, into a pretty room served as lots of hands' first Fire Talk Records release.
